Welcome to The Fashion School

We’re currently securing a property in Chelsea for 2019! This means weekly classes (woohoo!) and a small haberdashery area to buy any bits and bobs. Find us at 224a King’s Rd, Chelsea, London SW3 5UB
We have just found out another one of our students has been accepted into Central St Martins – watch this space!
If you recommend a friend to The Fashion School and they book onto a full term, you will both get one free class (worth £10-£15) during that term. Quote “Fashion Family” with your referrals name when booking.

Our inclusive and creative studio is based in the heart of Brighton’s trendy boutique quarter. We teach fashion, design and sewing to children from 6+, teens and adults, with the aim to promote a healthy attitude towards fashion and individuality.

We offer fun after school and weekend classes for children and teens of all levels, exciting half term and summer holiday workshops, fashion trips and shows, social weekday adult classes, and creative birthday parties for children. Whether you are with us to have a relaxing time learning lifelong sewing skills or you want to go into a career in fashion, we’re here for you. We have the most experienced caring staff, widest range of specialist machinery and the best facilities in Brighton (and soon to be London – watch this space!)

  • 24 Janome Sewist 525S & 725s sewing machines (used in the BBC hit TV show The Great British Sewing Bee). We use these machines as they have a well balanced range of stitches and features which is perfect for beginners and those who are more experienced.
  • 4 Janome 6234XL & 1 Janome 9200D overlocking sewing machines.
  • 1 Brother Innov-Is XV embroidery machine – our newest addition to the family.
  • 1 Brother Innov-Is 15 sewing machine.
  • 1 Janome CXL301 sewing machine.
  • 1 Janome CoverPro 2000CPX sewing machine.
  • 2 studio spaces. Our Brighton studio has two floors which means there’s lots of room for our students to spread out and unleash their inner creativity! View our virtual tour here.
  • 2 pattern cutting tables. Our main pattern cutting table downstairs is 3m x 2m and is the social hub of the school – we love to gather round and see everyones projects! We also have a second table upstairs (2m x 1m) that’s great for all your projects needs.
  • 1 photographic studio (available for hire)

Our classes have two pathways (fashion & sewing) to tailor your experience. Available from Stylish Tweens upwards as our under 9’s are finding their feet – learn more here.

We are an Arts Award centre! Alice and Millie (Bronze and Silver Arts Award Advisers) teach this nationally recognised qualification to inspire young students to grow their arts and leadership talents – ideal for aspiring fashion/textile students who want to create their own brief.

Please feel free to visit our studios and have a chat about what we can do for you. We just love showing people around!

“Since attending The Fashion School over the past 5 years, not only have I learnt a whole range of new skills and techniques, but also the importance of planning and organisation that goes into creating my own work and within the fashion industry. I’ve been guided for the best work I can produce, but with enough freedom to make it my own and find my personal creative style”
Maya, student
“The Fashion School provides so many unique and exciting opportunities for younger students wanting to learn and grow their design and sewing techniques. There is always such a wonderful variety of classes, workshops, shows and trips to inspire and grow the students. The tutors are caring and incredibly capable and the students get to use great quality equipment”
Mrs Cragg, mother
“We have sent our daughter on loads of activity clubs over the years, but nothing has ever inspired her as much as The Fashion School. It was wonderful to hear her talking so excitedly about every evening throughout the course. You have encouraged my daughter to view her Dyslexia as an asset in the fashion world and this has made her feel positive and happy”
Mrs Robinson, mother
“I love The Fashion School for so many reasons. The garments always look so well made and it is very professionally run with lovely tutors and quality equipment and facilities. The school is so well organised with lots of wonderful workshops and fashion trips. I’ve attended several other design schools and clubs, and none of them compare to The Fashion School”
